Designed for those responsible for overseeing laser safety, this course expands on operator-level knowledge to cover hazard identification, risk assessment, and the selection of appropriate control measures. It also explores the responsibilities of the Laser Safety Officer role and provides detailed guidance on relevant laser safety standards, including AS/NZS IEC 60825.1.
A more advanced programme providing detailed instruction on evaluating critical safety parameters such as Accessible Emission Limits (AELs), Maximum Permissible Exposures (MPEs) for eye and skin, and Nominal Ocular Hazard Distances (NOHDs). This enables participants to quantify laser hazards and make informed safety decisions.
Laser applications vary significantly across industries, and so do the associated risks. For example, construction environments may use lower-powered Class 3R lasers with open beam paths, while industrial processes such as engraving often involve high-powered Class 4 systems enclosed within protective housings.
